Reports
Artistic Director, Lee
Missouri Arts Council (after some back and forth) Interim report has been filed (error in our favor). ArtsKC Final report (check should be in the box) and new Annual FY21 grant submitted. It was okay that we didn’t complete the ArtsKC project (the drag queen concerto). As soon as we get our MAC contract (physical copy mailed) we should invoice for maximum amount to ensure no governor withholdings.
Huge thanks to Christian for the herculean effort to put together the Lizzo video and to all the musicians who submitted. Looking forward to putting together the October concert.
Synch licenses: They are expensive. We can still perform and stream without a synch license we just can’t keep it up legally.
I need to draft a press release regarding the changes to the season. I thought I had but apparently not. Website will need to reflect these changes.
As soon as website is changed we can push social media for the concert.
Little interest in theory classes so I don’t think I’m going to do them. Thoughts?
Any update on MO 501c3?
Lee and Erin will work on updating the website tomorrow.
Board suggests reaching out to more non-playing members for the theory classes to gauge interest. Suggests also expanding it to the wider LGBA and community to try to get more interest. Ian will create a signup in flipcause. Topics will be released pre-signup.
Assistant Artistic Director, Jessie
The Commission Selection Committee met last night to review applications. After a generous donation from Lee the committee would like to move forward with commissioning three of the works in total, selecting composers David Berger, Jackie Myers, and Marcus Lewis. I’m excited for these new works, and the opportunity to continue the ensemble's growth.
Special thanks to committee members Lee Hartman, Tim Gillespie, Michael Sticken, and Daniel Vu for their work!
The approved composers will be contacted by Lee and a press release will be drafted.
Board Chair, Christian
I did a big update on our MO annual filing: I changed the registered agent, changed the address of the org from Matthew’s address to mine, and got all the Board updated on their site. The site still says submitted but not accepted and it’s been a month? Maybe they’re slow?
I am working on the tax exempt certificate. I had received a letter from MO that the way we sent in our past three years of records weren’t in the correct format so I’m getting some help. I’ve contacted the LGBT Chamber of Commerce to see if they can hook me up with an organization that can point us in the right direction.
Been a busy month especially with the video so I haven’t done much board things so I will play catch-up after this week.
Nothing to add.

Flipcause is coming along nicely and seems to be working well. I have not heard any negative feedback from anyone one the tool. Our trial ends on October 23rd so we will need to make a decision before then whether to continue. As of today, there are only 3 people that I know of that have paid dues (in whole or partial) that havent done a membership agreement in Flipcause. Here are some updates:
Basics Statistics:
Records in the CRM: 1,227
Total Funds processed through Flipcause: $1,796.00
Season 18 Membership: $1,646.00
General Donations: $150.00
Total transactions fees paid by MAFB: $0.00
Estimated savings on fees: $80.82 (based on Flipcause calculation - 10/6/2020)

Fundraise for the MAFB: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/OTI1Mzc=
This was built out so people could use this in place of Facebook fundraisers
It’s ready to go but I haven’t sent out any instructions on how to use it yet. That might want to wait until we decide if this is a long term solution for us.
Campaigns in Draft
#GivingTuesday: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/OTc4NDg=
They built this out for us automatically but we need to update with the content we want.
We can either provide them the content and they will update it or we can update it.
Content right now is from their template.
Song Sponsorship: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/OTE5MjQ=
Built out as an example of how to do song sponsorship in the tool
Season 19 Membership: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/OTI1Mzg=#!
This is actually a better way of doing membership versus what we built for Season 18
I didn't want to change Season 18 once we started it but went ahead and built this to be ready for Season 19
Season 18 Tickets: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/OTg0MTQ=
Although we’re not doing live concerts, I went ahead and built this out so we could see how it would work.
The Flipcause team is in the process of building out a couple of campaigns for us to use in November and December.
24 Hours of Gratitude
This will be built out as a donation campaign that we can link in the hourly Facebook posts for this fundraiser
12 Days of Christmas
This will be built out to be a donation campaign tied to the 12 days of Christmas activity
I’m having them set this up as a general donation campaign and as a peer-to-peer campaign.
This means that we can set up teams (such as sections) if we wanted to do a friendly competition to see who could raise the most. Donors could either give a general donation or give a donation credited to a specific team/section.
Lastly, a few articles from Flipcause that we might want to look at:

Ian doesn’t think that there’s a direct integration for Twitch fundraising, but it may be able to be done in code..
