Concert: Tolkien and the Great War was wonderful on all fronts. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been a part of. Many thanks to the load crews, musicians, front-of-house, and all.
Rehearsals for Noble Houses: One down many to go. Music will be fine. Securing an upright piano for Freddie for Nights in the Gardens of Spain. Will know more on Thursday.
No Concert Band rehearsal on March 12 or April 9.

We have a concert secured for the concert. Season concert is coming soon. Will work with the marketing committee and Christian to get the season announcement set up. Still having issues finding marching instruments Lee will reach out to music teachers in the band.

Bayer will now match any donations I make to the band. They will also pay the band up to $60 for my time.
Next year, for the free concert we will only be selling tickets at the door. This year trying to get everyone’s tickets at the last minute was a little too much work. Another option is to oversell the house to 300 on Camille’s suggestion and coordinate beforehand and do the telecast into the lobby. I’ll weigh the options and decide after we get the season announcement out. We also made $85 through donations on Eventbrite.
Nothing to add.

Saturday Feb 29 Pastor Heidi reached out about security issues from our members leaving without setting the alarm. Christian and Ian were in the church preparing for load in, and left around 9am without setting the alarm.. A member from the women’s chorus was in the church when they were leaving, so they spoke with the chorus member asking their intention on staying in the church to know whether to set the alarm or not. Chorus member said they would be staying for an extended period of time so our member’s left without setting the alarm. The chorus member left shortly after realizing they were in the wrong location for rehearsal and locked up but did not set the alarm.Later a church member entered and found the alarm not set and reported to Pastor Heidi. I spoke with Christian and Ian on the matter and explained all of the details to Pastor Heidi. She confirmed Christian and Ian’s accounts of the situation and we cleared everything up. She commended us for using our best judgment after understanding the circumstances.
A note for us from Pastor Heidi re: KC Women’s Chorus. Whenever they are rehearsing at the church, they are to use the door on Campbell and will have a member at the door vetting entrance. If the door is locked, they have dates/times wrong and should return to their vehicle and make some calls.
I am talking with my charity committee at work for potential corporate sponsorship. Ian will be filling out the application and sending back to me for submission.
Austin will ask Pastor Heidi about the issue of transients asking for access to the building.
Can we install a router downstairs to improve wifi?

Photos from Sunday will be up soon. We need an invoice for the Kansas City Zoo for their advertising. Contracts for the next concert need to be followed up on.

The jazz band has been nailing the music at rehearsals—sounding great! Thanks bunches to Skip and Jessie.
We are enrolled in KC Fringe Festival 2020, it is July 16-26. Should we decide to change course for whatever reason, fees may be refunded if the festival staff is notified by April 15. Otherwise we will do 5 shows, focusing on Kansas City Suite as our core set list.
Bingo night at Spirit of Hope is tentative—it is being discussed at their March board meeting soon. It is conceivable they might table or nix the idea for now, their situation seems somewhat unknown. Communication has been spotty the past few months. It would be May 9 or 16.
I have not heard yet from the new Rose Committee directors about a potential June 7 performance at Loose Park. Our inquiry was forwarded to them over a month ago.
Our seasonal concert and reception will be on Sunday afternoon, June 28 at Central Presbyterian.
We’re still hoping to gig at an MAFB fundraiser this year.
On a personal note, due to my company’s 125th Anniversary Gala on May 2, I will not be playing with the concert band this cycle. I regret that this will be my first missed concert (performing, in concert and jazz bands) since I joined MAFB in August, 2010.
Joe is taking a small beak from the band for health reasons. Jessie and Skip are taking charge of the Jazz band for now.

Spirt of Hope House has been contacted for Trivia Night. Sat April 18 or May 16 are possible dates. Rental is $400 + $200 deposit. Lee suggests having the fundraiser somewhere that allows alcohol. We could sell seats/tables with drink tickets included. Alex has a connection at Rockchester Brewing and Roasting as a venu. Alex will get in touch with her contact. Lee recommends May 16 as it is after the season. If we are at a venu other than the brewery we need to start the liquor licence process for the organization now. Austin has a liquor license.
Working on a monthly donation campaign but still early in the process. There are a few different fundraising ideas and ideas of how to re-engage our donors being discussed, including a Jazz performance at the Well.

Has taken over Instagram to post our first post in a year and a half. We need a photographer for the Brookside parade. No candy at the parade. Jeanine can take photos at the event. Could we use a gopro at the parade? We are participating in Aids walk this year. Grace suggests having a media campaign about the performance. We could do a virtual walk to help raise money. Ausin will double check that all members have confirmed the photo release form.
Membership, Austin
Thank you so much to everyone who helped in planning Bad Drag Night. It was a huge success. I received a lot of great feedback from guests and performers. We raised $537! Can’t wait to do it again next year! As a result of the turn out for Drag Night, Buddy (owner of SideKicks) has invited us to do a charity bingo event where we can raise even more money.
Membership committee planning March member event, though if the parade gets pushed back, we may just do an early April event instead. Currently discussing family game night as this event. We are working out the details and logistics. If anyone has the space to host a larger group and is willing, please let myself or Alex know. We would prefer to host in someone’s home as it provides a more comfortable atmosphere, but we can coordinate using the church since this is our home, and we understand the burden.
May possibly have a projector being donated, which we can use for future member events and possibly use in front of house at concerts to showcase upcoming performances, social media info, etc. More details to come.
Nothing to add.

Having a couple months without a peep it’s time to look into getting the members to vote. Ian, have the changes been made and approved?
Ian will confirm the changes and re-publish the PDF.

Budget
Deadline for budget items listed as April 1 in the board calendar. The May meeting will be used to discuss and finalize the budget for the next fiscal year.
COVID-19 and the Concert
The plan above will be sent to the membership.
Do we need to refund the concert if it is canceled? The tickets will be refunded as asked but not advertised. If the concert is canceled we will offer a ticket for another event, a donation, or a refund. Mitigation plan will be added to the website’s news section.
Need more front of house people for May’s concert
Grace can help at front of house.
Corporate sponsorship packet
(and web page) Rameka will work on this after reviewing the existing sponsorship packet and talking to Lee’s contact at Hartman Jewel. Ian will help as well.
Building Alarm
Have we looked into the alleged building alarm situation from Saturday morning, 2/29, and have we followed up with Pastor Heidi to ease her concern? It is not uncommon for commercial property insurance (in this case the church’s insurance policy) to require that a building alarm be set when the building is unoccupied. It isn’t clear what happened based on Pastor Heidi’s text message, only that a band member or members allegedly entered at 9 am that day and left without setting the alarm.
Northland Pride
JN reached out. They loved us last year. Want us back again this year, Sun June 28th, roughly 11am.. They are offering booking fees, so possible paid gig.
Same day as a Might Mo performance. We would need to be opening the performance, and Might Mo would have to perform at or after 5pm.
Concert bar
Tabled pending further discussion of cost.
Parade
We are available if they push the date back but we would prefer it not to be moved.
