Board Chair, Christian
Got a response from the state on the tax exemption. I didn’t send the financials in the correct format. I will get that out ASAP.
Password changes have not happened yet. Will do this weekend.
Thanks again to Jessie, David, and Liz for their hard work! Welcome new board members: Rameka, Alex, and Grace!
Lee: Can we sit down and tally everything we’re expecting on grants or come up with a spreadsheet? We’re spending a lot and with the timpani purchase on the horizon I’m starting to get a tad nervous.
Nothing to add.
Vice Chair, Austin
No report for today. Just want to give a big gay welcome to our 3 new board members, Alex, Rameka and Grace! Welcome, and look forward to everything you will bring us! :D
Special thank you to Jessie, David and Liz for everything you have given to the Board. We wouldn’t be where we are today without every one of your efforts.
Huge thank you to the Election committee!

Minutes submitted on 1/27/2020. Please remember to send me events for the band to add to the band calendar - I know of at least two people, not including myself, that didn’t know when the annual meeting was until the day of.
February 21, bad drag fundraiser needs to be added to the website and member calendar. Ruth moves to approve the January minutes. Minutes accepted as submitted.
Business Operations, Ian
No report submitted.
The Gem is confirmed for Season 18. Will confirm WWI performance dates. Contracts will be sent out as soon as Ian has all the information. We have staging for the WWI performance secured. There are some minor corrections to the bylaws being made before the vote.
Mighty Mo, Joe
This year marks Mighty Mo Combo’s 10th season, so I’m thinking big and fun. More shows, more opportunities for player rotation where possible, allowing for additional members to perform with the band on a more regular basis. Better music preparation and better ticket sales. This year coincides with KC’s own, Charlie “Bird” Parker’s 100th birthday.
A new guitar player joins us this week, our third at that position since Mighty Mo Combo was formed. That’s a position we’ve struggled to fill, as guitar player #1 did only two gigs, and guitar player #2 did but one. Mighty Mo has done over 50 gigs.
Gigs in 2020:
Bingo Night, May 9 or 16 MCCKC Spirit of Hope
Rose Show, June 7, Loose Park
Jazz concert, Central Presbyterian, June 20 or 27
KC Fringe Festival, July 16-26, with guest vocalist (5 shows), dates TBD
MAFB Fundraiser, date TBD
So that’s nine shows. I’d like to add a holiday performance too.
Not attending meeting.

Do we still have an automated new member welcome email? We can connect mailchimp/setup automatic emails from form submissions, so we may want to consider that with the “join us” form on the website.
We do not have this email, and as far as the board knows never have. It might be a good thing to consider, but Lee likes the personal touch. The board suggests a genetic confirmation email with a followup from the membership chair. Austin will write a confirmation email template.
Membership, Austin
Membership Committee working on our Bad Drag fundraiser. We are calling it Bad Drag 3: Return of the Kweens. Feb 21st at Sidekicks Saloon. I hope to have 100% Board and Staff in attendance. I will need all songs submitted to me NLT Feb 16. Lee, if you can make an announcement at rehearsal on Thursday, I would greatly appreciate it. Be sure to share with everyone you know. If you have friends/family not apart of the band but would like to perform, please have them email me at austin.rexroad@freedomband.com. My vision with this is more of a community variety show. Burlesque, Stand-up, Ventriloquism, Contortionists, Magicians, Mimes, anything really. Anything someone wants to perform, we want to showcase it. So make sure to let everyone know and tell everyone who’s coming to bring 2 friends each =P If you have any questions or suggestions on things you would like to see for this event, please let me know.
Since we are working on this fundraiser, we will not be doing a Feb Member event separate from this. We will continue with our Monthly events in March.
Bad Drag stars at 10:00 pm. The performers need photo releases (non-members only, members already have signed a photo release). Grace will create thumbnails of all the performers. The Instagram account needs someone to manage it. There will be no february membership event other than this fundraiser.
