Artistic Director, Lee
Looking forward to rehearsals for the spring starting even with the delayed because of the snow. In bittersweet news, I got the job in Maine and will be moving at the end of January to start in February. I’ll be announcing this to the band at rehearsal. Please keep it under wraps until then. I’d like to come back to conduct the timpani concerto on the May concert. I have talked with Abbie Brown about serving as guest conductor for the Galbraith and Giroux. She is amenable but would like to be paid (and she should); it’s also her dissertation semester, so I’d suggest just having her conduct the concert band and that’s it. I will have the NTDF, ArtsKC, and MAC grants done but should work with others on the ArtsKC and MAC ones so someone can see the process (it’s fairly simple, just time consuming).
Option for new Artistic Director Search
Recommend posing these at the Annual Meeting
Option 1 - I can program the season and you invite candidates to conduct either
One candidate per concert
Multiple candidates on first concert
Option 2 - I program about half the music for the concert and the candidates pick an additional piece
Option 3 - Let the candidates program the whole concert
Option 4 - Band Committee programs the concert
Board motions / votes to approve bringing Abbie Brown in for the Spring concert cycle - 1/30/25 with a compensation rate of $500 / month.
Pride / Pep band - we’ll work internally to head these performances

Facebook Usage (Erin)
Facebook recently announced that they’re going to treat moderation more like Twitter does now, and ‘change their culture’ so we may want to consider moving anything we can off of the application, such as our board chat and the membership forum.
