The Mid America Freedom Band Welcomes New Production Coordinator
The Mid America Freedom Band has welcomed Bailee Young (she/her) to their staff as a Production Coordinator. She joins the band’s leadership to help coordinate events, including setup, teardown, volunteers, and other logistical needs.
In addition to assisting with the production efforts of MAFB, Bailee is an elementary music teacher in the Kansas City area. She began her music career in her hometown of Belleville, Illinois, before moving to Springfield, Missouri, to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Music degree at Missouri State University. During her time in Springfield, Bailee performed with various ensembles, including the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Pride Marching Band, Clarinet Ensemble, and more. Bailee explored her passion for arts administration through her work as stage manager with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and by serving as president of the Alpha Mu chapter of the music fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon. In her free time, Bailee enjoys spending time with her pets, Percy and Mahler (both named after instrumental music composers), and her husband, Cody Young, who is also a music educator in the Kansas City area.
The Mid America Freedom Band provides a safe space for instrumental performance opportunities, outreach, and social advocacy for music enthusiasts within the LGBTQ+ and ally spectrum of the Kansas City area to create an inclusive community that fosters and celebrates diversity.
