Committee Reports
Fundraising, Rameka
I’ve created a flipcause page for the Bari campaign. Let me know if you have any edits, etc. The plan is to launch the campaign at the MMJO concert this weekend. I will have some small packets of gummy bears with a little card and QR code for donations. Jessie, can you please talk about it from the podium?
I don’t have plans for new merch for the Oct. concert. We have a lot of misc. stuff, sunglasses, hats, stickers, etc. I’m working on pricing scarves and socks for the holiday concert (details and pricing to follow).
Marketing, Joy
Ad was run with Classical KC in September on the 9th, not a huge increase in internet traffic. Events with scheduled dates have been added to local events calendars.
Membership, Rose
Membership committee has been manning the table for check ins during rehearsals. Is there somewhere that the lists go each rehearsal? Maybe we can get the section leaders to make the move and check in on their fellow sections. The church has been reserved just in case for the movie night originally planned for Chuck’s home. Might have something happening for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. Still working on membership spotlights as well as records of concerts attended.
Performance Opportunities, Rose and Steven
An email was sent to the roller derby team and the mavericks and we’re waiting for responses. Looking at caroling again for the holidays.
Old Business
The board voted against hosting the Association of Concert Bands conference in 2025 and a special meeting on September 19.
New Business
Election Committee
needs to be established. Alex is willing to lead the committee and J.J. is willing to assist. Christian volunteers to lead the committee as well. Jeanine will join as a staff member and an email will be sent out to get a regular member involved.

We are in great shape for our performances. Still waiting on the KC Zoo to offer us their date. Folly Grant will be completed tomorrow. Joplin has rescinded their invite to us for the Summer performance which is extremely disappointing. Next season is almost all planned. The season mailers are hitting mailboxes so that is great. Personnel list will be ready for Thursday’s rehearsal. Erin - can I send you program info for the program if you’d be so kind as to do the layout? What are the plans for Giving Tuesday?
Maybe we could look at other performance opportunities this coming summer since Joplin fell through?

Not a whole lot new to report from last month:
I will not be able to be at the jazz concert due to a prior commitment but I will come set up the sound rig as things are getting set up. Tear down should be fairly straight forward.
The schedule for the Gem has changed a little. We will load in on Saturday after 3:30 PM. We will have access to the facility on Sunday at noon.
I need to follow-up with Flipcause on our MailChimp feed. It doesn't look like everything is pulling over.
Flipcause does have an option to organize volunteers. So that’s something that we can look into moving forward to help run concert days.
Librarian, Jeanine
Nothing to report.
Webmaster, Erin
Website now has a more detailed ‘programming’ section on it.
https://freedomband.com/programming
I eventually want that section to be more detailed, but I’m waiting because we/I should really move our website to SquareSpace v. 7.1 (we’re on 7.0) and the only way to do that is to rebuild the website from scratch and I don’t want to do that during the season. The plan right now is to do it over the summer, it probably won’t be a full redesign but it will make us able to be more flexible with the layout.
I don’t think switching over will change our costs at all, it’s just a better software build.
Meeting adjourned at 8:27PM.
