Missouri Life Magazine reached out about featuring MMJO’s World Rhythms concert in their magazine, I have replied with photos and a signed photo release. It’s a great sign we’re starting to get these requests organically!

Holiday music seems to be going well! After a contract is extended to the new AD, the Artistic Committee will meet with them and start discussing the spring Chamber Music concert. As of now, the plan is to send out a sign up and gauge membership interest in joining a chamber group before making decisions about repertoire.

MMJO’s first concert is this Friday! Please join us, and encourage other members to join as well. 7pm doors, with the show starting at 7:30pm.

Just a note that MMJO’s next concert will be pretty quick in January, so we will plan on still rehearsing 12/18 before the Holiday Membership gathering. We will also be searching for a second night to rehearse swing band the weeks of Dec. 8 and 11 so not to take time away from the concert prep.

I sent a touchbase email to all committee heads last week. It’s an open call to keep communications open between your meetings, board, and band. I’m here to help!
With that being said, we need better engagement in committees. I know we need help and we need to continue to ask and be specific about it. I’d like to steal 5mins at the top of rehearsal and have each committee lead briefly describe what they do and how someone can support the committee.
Do we want to set up a committee to do the decorations/hot chocolate/cookies for the holiday concert? (We need to ask the Gem first)

Not much particularly new. We are working through a copyright issue with a photo from 2018. We have retained Hovey Williams, LLP to represent us on the issue. They are working through a resolution of an issue and will represent us at 50% of their normal fee. The firm bringing the claim is one that they have significant experience with. I have reviewed our website or any other photos or graphics that may be of concern and will review Facebook for similar content in the coming days. At this juncture, we expect the be able to settle the claim for around $250.
For those with access to the INFO emails, please do not reply to emails from Higbee and Associates. All communication on this issue will be handled by me or by Counsel.

I would suggest that in the new calendar year the board works with Bea, Jessie, and the new AD to find an assistant librarian (as a reminder, this is my last season in the position!). A job description can be found in the board files.

Search is ongoing but on pause. If anyone knows of someone who is interested in taking this position please let Jessie or Christian know. The color guard is still rehearsing on Thursdays this fall/winter to practice. A job description is available upon request.

Christian volunteers to manage the election committee with Rameka. Will release the application form later this week. Still need regular volunteers to join.
