About to start the new fiscal year. Big 4 arts institutions have canceled all performances for fall. Most organizations will follow. Lee would like to pull the membership for their opinion on the season.
Assistant Artistic Director, Jessie
Still in a COVID-19 holding pattern, and today several large arts orgs in KC announced no shows until 2021. I have two shows planned for Mighty Mo’s (hopefully) half season, “Jazz Goes Pop” featuring jazz covers of pop favorites, and “Kansas City Here I Come” featuring the music of Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, Bobby Watson, and others. Holding on any kind of season announcement until we know more as corona continues to unfold.
Working on planning out future seasons, with 4 concerts per season.
Planning on an April and June 2021 concert for now.

Contracts for Jessie and Lee are almost done. Just need to make sure the job descriptions are done and I can use the template Ian set up for me. Board look for them soon.
Updated some of the website. Don’t forget to pay your dues when you can board and staff.

Fundraising, Rameka
Next virtual fundraiser…... Trivpardy! Suggesting Friday, Jul 24th at 7pm. Need a couple volunteers to help monitor and help with prizes.
Want to explore Xmas in July fundraising event.
The board has approved the event. Rameka will finalize the details. We need prize donations.
Xmas in July could be a street performance style fundraiser. Rameka is going to research the logistics, depending on membership interest. July 25 is an option but there are other events that day.

Virtual member event was a success with the cards against humanity tournament. Alison Rand is not joining us for next season, she is moving out of state. I have the horn she was borrowing from the band.
Prize will be a store gift card, coming out of the membership committee fund.

Bylaws passed!
Document format will be finalized and uploaded to appropriate government agencies and band files. Voting worked well once we got people to do it.

Thoughts on the season
Poll the membership for their opinions. There will be no large group performances. We may be able to do socially distanced small group chamber music.

MISSION - The Mid America Freedom Band provides a safe space for performance opportunities, outreach, and social advocacy through instrumental music for music enthusiasts within the LGBTQ+ and ally spectrum of Kansas City area to create an inclusive community that fosters diversity.
VISION - We strive to create a more inclusive, diverse, and celebrated community through music as Kansas City's premier volunteer ensemble.
The board will discuss changes with Grace and a vote will be done digitally.
