Thank you for all the support for the merch fundraiser! We had great results, I couldn’t do it without the membership support! Do we want to consider something for the spring?
Bad Drag is the priority for the spring fundraiser. I’m hoping to have dates to share in the next couple of weeks.

The holiday concert was a success on just about every front; wonderful playing, great audience, excellent front of house service. I’m so proud of everyone involved. NTDF application for May 1-April 30 is due Jan 28. MAC grant for FY24 is due Feb 27; because of COVID and the rollover of off year grants, MAC has restructured their On year and Off year apps (for FY24 we will be off-year). Basically it’s an amount of paperwork you have to do. Francis Family will be due in Feb too. I am drafting a LOI to the Kauffman Foundation and now have an in. I’m going to speak with Liz Brent and her husband as they have an in with Richard J Stern Foundation.
Timpani covers have been returned to Palen Music and we have a bit more legwork to do with them regarding restocking fees etc. Approximately a dozen of the band’s instruments excluding percussion, the bassoon, the baritone saxophone, and a horn were taking to Heritage Music for evaluation. Basically it’s worth it to repair one of the trombones, the cornet (which is a professional instrument) and the trumpet. All others are not worth the repair costs. The mellophonium in G is worth selling via consignment as it’s a rare collectors item especially with the case that we won’t use. Heritage is pricing everything out and we will get repair credit for the “lamp” instruments and repair the three mentioned above. Thank you to Ian for his massive organization job in the storage unit. We have two potential buyers for the remaining old timpani; I just need to get their sizes.
Spring concert - looking forward to starting rehearsals on Jan 19. I’m adding Hairspray medley into the program. Needed a lighter piece and it premiered 20 years ago! My piece Emerald should be ready to go for the first rehearsal as well. All other music is here. Percussion breakout list should be done this week.
Concert dates and programs for next season are close. We still need a fall date and venue as the Lyric is unavailable. Perhaps back to the Gem for the fall.
Questions
* Has the Folly been added to our insurance for the spring concert?
* I need to get into the church to bind my score. Do we have access to the office or should i just go during the day?
* Do we want to add a chili/soup cook-off to the annual meeting on Jan 26?

I’m wanting to send a survey out to all band members after the annual meeting to get a temperature check to see where everyone is. Topics I plan on covering in the survey include engagement, interest in getting involved with committees, and if they feel heard when they bring issues to board and staff.

St. Andrews News
St. Andrews is working with their usual contractor to get a quote for installation of adjustable shelving in our storage space to give us some more options. They will pass the quote to us when received for review.
Still need to move our music but the timeline is not particularly urgent. Working the shelving issue first, then we can find a day to do some rearranging
Storage Space
Lee and I spend an afternoon reorganizing, consolidating, and purging items from the storage space. This freed up some additional space for us to move infrequently used items to storage from St. Andrews.
I neglected to get Nathan the access information for the storage unit account so I went ahead and paid January rent. I’ll get the access information sent over so we can get it up on auto-pay
New Cases
The new front-of-house case was received and built out. Once we figure out storage rearrangement, we can figure out if there is a spot for it over at the Church. It could be helpful to move there then it could be the home of our laptop (which we need a new one of), etc. and be used for administrative things when we need front-of-house-like things at the church.
The new percussion case is on order and should be here in the near future. It will ship freight and we’ll have to go get it from the freight terminal in NKC. Once that arrives and we get materials transitioned to it, we’ll relocate the big tall road case over to storage and just use it for moving gear off-site for concerts.
I still need to get the old white cubes up for sale. I dont recall what we bought them for (or if they were donated). Saw an almost new one (in better shape than ours) on Marketplace for $65. Thinking perhaps our price cheaper than that given more wear and tear. Likely price individually with a break for purchase of the pair.
